BROOKFIELD WEATHER UPDATE: When Will the Windswept Soaking Rains Begin This Weekend?

This weekend is looking to be an almost complete washout with windswept soaking rains and possible thunderstorms forecast beginning mid-afternoon on Saturday, intensifying in the evening hours and tapering off by early afternoon on Sunday.

Mixed in will include some fog and of course the chance of the thunderstorms, the National Weather Service predicts. There is no mention of the word sun in the latest weather update.

Before it’s all over we’re looking at between 1-2 inches of rain statewide and possibly up to three inches in Hartford and Tolland counties where a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” already has been issued.

Here is a breakdown of when the rains will begin and end by county in Connecticut.

Fairfield County

• Rain and thunderstorms are possible beginning after 2 p.m. Saturday and the temps will be around 65 degrees and winds could gust up to 26 mph. Saturday night 1-2 inches of rain are forecast and winds could exceed 31 mph. The rain and storms stop in the early afternoon. Another half inch of rain is possible.

New Haven County

• Rain and thunderstorms are possible after 2 p.m. Saturday and the temps will be around 67 degrees with winds up to 25 mph. Heavy rain and thunderstorms Saturday night, another inch of rain is forecast with winds gusting up to 27 mph. The showers and storms taper off around noon on Sunday.

Middlesex County

• Rain begins after 5 p.m. Saturday and up to 2 inches is possible before it starts to ends around 1 p.m. Sunday.

New London

• Rain will start after 2 p.m. Saturday and winds will gust up to 34 mph at night, and before the rain stops around 1 p.m. Sunday up to 2 inches of rain is possible.

Hartford and Tolland Counties

• Up to three inches of rain is possible there. Showers begin Saturday after 3 p.m. and the rain and winds intensify at night and up to two inches could fall. Winds will be around 24 mph and the rain tapers off around 1 p.m. Sunday.
