Brookfield Will Pay For Volunteer Firefighter Physicals
The board will earmark $35,000 from the town's contingency fund to cover the annual check-ups.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Board of Finance approved a $35,000 appropriation to pay for required physicals for the town’s volunteer firefighters, The News Times is reporting.
Previously, Brookfield Family Medicine had provided the check-ups to volunteer firefighters gratis as a public service. But the free services came to a halt when Western Connecticut Health Network purchased the office.
The board will earmark $35,000 from the town’s contingency fund to cover the physicals, which are a more rigorous version of a conventional annual check-up, as mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
