BROOKFIELD, CT — The move-in date for the new Candlewood Lake Elementary School in Brookfield has been moved back to the fall of 2023.

In an email to the community, school officials said the construction of the school itself would not be complete until late May or early June, due to delays in the availability of flooring materials.

"Given this information, with just a matter of weeks remaining in the school year upon its completion, we will no longer pursue a phased-in approach where the Huckleberry Hill students and staff would be moving into CLES during this school year," the email read.

When completed, the 139,000-square-foot facility will accommodate more than 1,000 students and 200 staff.

The letter was signed by Superintendent John Barile, BOE chairman Robert Belden, Jr., and current Huckleberry Hill principal/future Candlewood Lake Elementary principal David Pepsoski.
