Coronavirus: Brookfield Schools Switch To Full Remote Learning
The change will be in effect immediately, commencing Wednesday. Schools are scheduled to return to the hybrid attendance model on Dec. 7.
BROOKFIELD, CT — After a week of struggling with rising coronavirus cases in the school communities, and the accompanying scheduling challenges due to the quarantines, the Public Schools will be switching to full remote learning.
The change will be in effect immediately, commencing Wednesday. Schools are scheduled to return to the hybrid attendance model on Dec. 7.
"While we have no evidence of in-school transmission, the decision to transition to full remote learning is driven by the pattern of rapidly increasing community spread," Superintendent John Barile wrote in an email to families. "This spread is occurring within families and youth sports. Today, the CIAC postponed winter sports until January 19th. Additionally, we have significant concerns in regard to adequately covering quarantined staff who are critical to the operation of the schools."
