Coronavirus Confirmed At Whisconier Middle School​ In Brookfield

A member of the Whisconier Middle School community is now under quarantine.

BROOKFIELD, CT — A member of the Whisconier Middle School community has tested positive for the coronavirus, Superintendent John Barile wrote in an email to families on Tuesday.

"The affected person has been instructed to remain home and isolate for 10 days," Barile said.
The person was last at the school on Thursday.

"We have not received any other reports of students or staff members experiencing illnesses with symptoms resembling those of COVID-19," Barile said in the email. "Anyone who is considered a 'close contact' with this individual has been contacted by now or will be contacted very soon and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take, which includes quarantine for 14 days."

The schools are working with the Brookfield health director, Raymond Sullivan, as they monitor the situation, Barile said.
