CT Trooper Accused Of Rear-Ending Car In Brookfield Has Been Charged

​ Sgt. Catherine Koeppel has been suspended and is currently assigned to administrative duties.

BROOKFIELD, CT —The Connecticut state trooper accused of rear-ending a motorist in Brookfield has been issued a misdemeanor charge.

Sgt. Catherine Koeppel was charged with following too close and evading responsibility after an investigation into a collision which damaged both her police cruiser and a Kia Optima. Both cars were traveling in the same direction on Route 7 North On July 24 around 9:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Koeppel was released on a $500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Aug. 9. She has been suspended and is currently assigned to administrative duties, pending the outcome of this case.
