Drive-Thru's, Zoning Regs on Agenda at Brookfield Public Forum
The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in Room 133 of Town Hall.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The Zoning Commission will hold public hearings Thursday evening on possible rules on drive-thrus downtown. and proposed changes to the zoning regulations.
The discussion about drive-thru's has been prompted by an application made to the Zoning Commission for a zone change in the area around the old Hearth Restaurant property, which Dunkin Donuts wants to occupy. The town attorney recommended the commission consider allowing drive-thrus via a special permit. Opponents have expressed concerns that drive-thru's will negatively impact the town's recent "pedestrian-friendly" efforts in the area.
The overhaul of the 1950's-era zoning regulations, an ongoing project the past two years, is meant to clarify the language for developers and residents alike.
