Traffic was snarled for over half an hour at the intersection of Junction Road and Stony Hill Road on Wednesday, June 2, when a Diversified Waste Disposal (DWD) garbage truck became stuck beneath the railroad overpass shortly before 4 p.m.
Traffic was held up or detoured and a passing cargo train was halted while railroad engineers checked to make sure the railway and bridge were not compromised.
DWD employees arrived on the scene from Danbury and let the air out of the tires to lower the 12' 8" truck below the 12' 1" height limit of the bridge. After towing it forward to allow traffic to flow again, they inflated and replaced the tires on the shoulder of the road.

Railroad employees determined that the bridge and tracks were fine and the train was on its way minutes after the truck was unstuck. One DWD employee noted that the underpass has been "hit so many times they're trying to match the color" of the truck to find any new damage on the underside.
