Hearing Held for Brookfield Couple's Case to Remain in Local GOP

The couple's affiliation was brought to question.

Larry and Jane Miller received a summons March 19 from Tom Dunkerton, the Republican Registrar of Voters.

According to the News Times, a hearing was held Thursday night to determine whether they should be kicked out of the party due to “lack of good faith party affiliation.”

The case against the couple includes Larry Miller’s appearance at Democratic headquarters on election night in 2013, the couple’s donation to a political action committee that backed democrats and Jane Miller’s run as a Democrat on the Board of Finance in 2013, the paper reports.

The law mandates that a party member can be expelled for an action that takes place in the last two years.

Many at the hearing thought it was unnecessary or absurd and expressed their support for the Millers as faithful members of the Republican party, the paper reports.

The final decision will be communicated to the Millers by mail.
