Introduction - Let's Talk Saving Energy!!!

Hello Everyone.

My name is Jeff Strang. I am a Professional Engineer and Energy consultant, with a sincere interest in reducing energy consumption. I have worked in the computer industry for over 30 years, and I have been studying energy and energy efficiency for the last several years.

I am starting this blog with a very simple and straight forward goal: we can ALL reduce our energy consumption….

I want to help create more awareness of the importance of energy efficiency, and the many ways we can reduce energy waste, specifically in our homes.

If you think about it, it really makes complete sense….if we reduce our energy consumption, we keep more of our hard earned dollars in our pockets. AND, we help save the Earth at the same time.

We benefit. The Earth benefits. Why would we not want to be more energy efficient?

Here you will find energy savings tips and suggestions every time I update this page.

Maybe we will have an “energy tip of the week” from our readers…something to make it fun and most importantly interesting and meaningful.

I will try to explain how our energy reduction ideas save money, and how much money they can save. This can be as simple as turning down your thermostat (and how much that is worth), to discussions regarding window replacements (how much does that really save and is it really worth it) and more involved topics such as replacing your inefficient furnace and adding insulation.

For everything discussed, my intention is to keep it very simple and easy to understand.

I am convinced that almost every home can reduce their energy consumption….and not only save money, but spew less greenhouse gases into the Earth’s atmosphere. I plan to discuss the greenhouse effect, and will try to offer a clear explanation of what it means. I have found that almost everyone has heard of the “greenhouse effect” and “global warming”, but many people don’t really understand what these concepts mean, and how they can affect them. If we understand it, and buy into it, we will want to help.

My hope here is for an interactive blog. I welcome your questions, comments, and suggestions.

Have a great week. Think energy savings!

jeff
