Lecture at Brookfield Museum: The Final Chapter of WWII in the Pacific

The presentation will discuss the taking of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in preparation for the final assault on the Japanese mainland.

On Monday, October 5, 2015 at 7:30 p.m., the Brookfield Museum and Historical Society, as part of its American Military Forum, will host a multi-media presentation by Peter Cronin of Brookfield.

Cronin, a former member of Historical Society’s Board of Directors, has given a number of lectures on World War II. This program will follow the movement of U.S. Forces in the Pacific in 1945, who along with their British partners closed in on the islands of Japan.

The presentation will discuss the taking of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in preparation for the final assault on the Japanese mainland and the dropping of the A Bomb. Cronin will talk about the planned defense of Japan and preparations for the invasion along with the consequences both anticipated and realized. Following the discussion, complimentary refreshments will be served. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Museum is located at 165 Whisconer Road, Brookfield Center (intersection of Route 25 and 133) .
