Library, Craft Center, More Team Up for Brookfield Day
Brookfield Day is this Saturday, and there is no shortage of activities in town, for all ages.
BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield Day is this Saturday, and the Congregational Church of Brookfield, the Brookfield Library, the Brookfield Craft Center and the Brookfield Conservation Commission will all be hosting and sponsoring activities.
From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the library will be hosting a Story Walk for all ages on the Still River Greenway. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., there will be a showing of the movie Hotel Transylvania 3 for ages 5 and up, and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. the library will show Leave No Trace for ages 11 and up. Both movies will be shown in the library’s Community Room, and free popcorn and drinks will be available. The library is located at 182 Whisconier Road.
At the Gurski Homestead, the Brookfield Conservation Commission is sponsoring its 7th annual open farm event. Activities will include bluebird house building, hikes, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, blacksmith demonstrations, a bake sale, food vendors, and talks on composting, gardening and honey bees.

The 50th annual fair at the Congregational Church of Brookfield will also be part of the Brookfield Day festivities. Barn items, baked goods, thrift shop, silent auction, quilts, fair trade items, fudge, cheese, coffee shop, White Steeple Inn, grill, collectibles, family fun, used books and toys, crafts, live music, and Vanilla Swirl the Clown are among the many activities. Proceeds will benefit Brookfield Emergency Services and hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. The fair runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the barn opening at 8:00 a.m. The church is located on Route 25 at the intersection of Route 133.
The Brookfield Craft Center invites residents to "explore all the studios, try a craft and discover Brookfield’s best kept secret." Demonstrations in the forge include knife and toolsmithing, woodturners making pens and bowls, glassblowing, jewelry making, weaving, and pottery making. The exhibits will be open from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the craft center located at 286 Whisconier Road.
