Officials Urge Residents to Sign Up for Alert Systems
After debilitating storms, town officials ask residents to stay connected and informed.

In the wake of two extended power outages in town this year, Brookfield officials are urging residents to sign up for both Emergency and Community Alert systems. The appropriate forms can be found on the town’s website.
The Alert system allows officials and emergency personnel to send out blast communications to the public during critical times.
“Everybody in Brookfield has to help themselves,” First Selectman Bill Davidson said at a recent Board of Selectman’s (BOS) meeting. “This will not be the last power outage in town.”

Davidson told residents that it is “imperative that you sign up every single telephone device that you have because in times of emergency it’s one of the few ways we can communicate with you.”
Police Maj. James Purcell also urged residents to be sure to sign up not only for the Emergency Alerts, but the Community Alerts as well, as the Community system can be used before an emergency is declared.
