To the editor:
When Brookfield voters go to the polls this November 3rd, they should remember that Brookfield’s government has been improved to give them more rights under the Tinsley-Flynn administration.

In 2014, Brookfield’s Town Charter was revised so that we now have an automatic right to vote on separate budgets for the town and school operations. In 2015, we began enjoying this same right enjoyed for years in the overwhelming majority of town meeting forms of government across this state.
No longer do Brookfield’s 9,000 plus voters need to worry that their rights to separate budget votes can be taken away by two Selectmen or a 200-person attendance at a town meeting. For years, as other area towns implemented a split budget vote, the previous Democratic administration would not even allow Brookfield to take up the question.

When he ran for office in 2013, First Selectman Tinsley promised to place the question before Brookfield voters within a year. This promise was, in fact, kept and the people resoundingly approved it. The approval of the Charter Revision by voters was in spite of unanimous opposition by the Brookfield Democratic Town Committee and their current candidate, Steve Dunn.
Mr. Dunn went so far as to stand outside polling places in 2014 urging citizens to vote down this Charter Revision.Remember in November that nearly every candidate on the Democrat ticket openly opposed our right to an automatic split budget vote.Vote Row B for Bill Tinsley, Marty Flynn, and a team that promises to stand up for the people of Brookfield – and delivers.
