Plea Entered in Dispatcher Embezzlement Case

The case against former Brookfield police dispatcher Douglas Fisher, who was , was continued Wednesday to October 28 as Fisher’s lawyer, James Diamond, was scheduled to try another case. According to court documents, a plea deal has been entered for larceny in the third degree that includes a suspended two-year sentence, with two years of probation, and $17,285 in restitution to be paid to the union.

The maximum sentence in this case would be five years jail time.

Fisher stands accused of embezzling $17,285 between 2005 and 2009 while president of the Brookfield chapter of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), which represents the town’s dispatchers, groundskeepers and clerical employees. Fisher was uncovered 12 checks he had written to himself out of the union account between December 2005 and January 2007.

According to the court docket, the October 28 court date is scheduled to be a disposition hearing, in which the judge will render a final verdict.

Attorney Diamond did not return calls for comment on the plea deal as of the last posting.
