Brookfield Police responded to 9-1-1 reports of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on Route 7 at 2:27 a.m. Driver Melissa Ramos, 24, of Danbury, allegedly struck another vehicle and left the scene. Officers located Ramos traveling on Route 7, swerving in and out of the right lane. Ramos was pulled over and failed all subsequent field sobriety tests. She was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, evading responsibility, failure to drive in the proper lane on a multi-lane highway and driving the wrong way on a one-way highway. A court date has been scheduled for Friday, May 14.
Wednesday, May 5There was a structure fire shortly before 5 a.m. at Osaka Seoul Restaurant at 777 Federal Road. The fire showed on the northeast corner of the building. Approximately 40 firefighters from both Brookfield fire companies responded and the flames were extinguished by 6:30 a.m., according to Candlewood Fire Chief Gary Gramling. The restaurant does not open until 10:30 a.m., so no employees were inside at the time of the burn.

According to owner Hee Kang and employees who arrived at the scene after the blaze had been extinguished, most of the damage was to the exterior of the building, though portions of the kitchen were burnt and the restaurant will be closed until repairs can be made. Employees said that the dining area was not damaged and crews were repairing the outside of the building by mid-morning.

Christopher Rosini, 23, of Brookfield, was arrested at 10 a.m. on charges of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of possession of controlled substances (hallucinogens and narcotics) and possession with intent to sell. The arrest was made on a court-issued warrant pursuant to an investigation by Brookfield Police dating back to September 2009. A court date has been scheduled for Friday, May 14.
