Police Blotter: Driving Without Tires and Accident Lead to DUIs

Saturday, October 9

At approximately 12:15 a.m., Brookfield Police received calls from witnesses reporting a Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling north on Federal Road with one or two flat tires. One witness was able to relay the registration number to police dispatchers, who identified the vehicles' owner as Karl Drentwett, Jr., 24, of New Milford. Officers located Drentwett in a commercial parking lot on Federal Road.

An investigation showed that Drentwett drove on two flat tires until both eventually came off their rims. He continuted to drive on the rims for over one mile, passing by all of the commercial parking lots north of Four Corners. He pulled into the very last lot in Brookfield, just south of the New Milford line.

Drentwett was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and reckless driving. Bond was set at $750 with a court date of October 22 in Danbury Superior Court.

Police received a call of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Grays Bridge Road and Old State Road. Upon investigation, Rachel Stenton, 33, of Washington, CT, was found to be intoxicated, failing several field sobriety tests. Stenton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was released on $500 bond with a court date set for October 26.
