Police Blotter: DUI, Forgery Arrest and a Brief Chase

Sunday, April 17, through Tuesday, April 19

Sunday, Aril 17

At 1:20 a.m., a witness reported that an older white male, driving a tan colored full-size pickup truck, was yelling obscenities and creating a disturbance in the McDonald’s parking lot. The male drove out of the parking lot and headed south on Federal Road.

Approximately five minutes later an officer located a vehicle and driver of that description in the drive-thru line at Wendy’s (approximately one mile south of McDonald’s). The driver got his food order and moved into a parking space. The officer parked nearby and walked over to speak to the diver. While there, the witness from McDonald’s arrived at Wendy’s and made a positive identification as to the vehicle and the driver.

The driver, James Hill, of New Milford, stated he had been at McDonald’s a few minutes earlier and that he was upset because he waited for a long time in the McDonald’s drive-thru with no one taking his order. He drove around the building and stopped near the food pickup window to yell something at the employee. He wouldn’t elaborate as to what he said.

The officer observed several indications that Hill might be impaired and he subsequently failed field sobriety tests at the scene. He was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. There was no formal complaint or charges from the McDonald’s incident. Hill was later released on $300 bond with a court date scheduled for April 29 in Danbury Superior Court.

The officer pursued for about a mile while Valentine made turns onto area roads. During this time, she was traveling at high speeds and in the center portion of two-way roads.
