Police Blotter: Heroin and a Car Accident

Saturday, September 11
At 3:42 p.m., Brookfield Police noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in the Wendy's parking lot at 36 Federal Road. The vehicle, driven by Justin Hambidge, 27, of New Milford, exited the parking lot headed north on Federal Road and was pulled over on route 7 northbound for a seat belt violation. During a search of the vehicle and the passenger's purse, police discovered "folds" of packaged heroin and syringes.
Hambidge and the passenger, Christine Gemmati, 26, of New Preston, were arrested and charged with illegal possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $5,000 each and a court date was schedule for September 24 in Danbury Superior Court.

Police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Federal Road and White Turkey Extension at 7:43 p.m. An investigation revealed that James Seeley, 77, of Danbury, allegedly failed to stop for a red light and struck another vehicle. Seeley failed field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested and charged with operating under the influence and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Seeley is expected to appear in Danbury Superior Court on September 24. Bail was set at $500.
