Police Blotter: Knife-Wielding Shoplifter Subdued

Charged with shoplifting and larceny.

Brookfield Police responded to Shop Rite for a reported man wielding a knife after being detained by employees for shoplifting. The male suspect was identified at the scene as Gary Pecor, 42, of Danbury. 

Pecor allegedly attempted to steal meat from Shop Rite, but was apprehended by store employees. Pecor fought with employees and wielded a knife in the process. He was held on the ground until police arrived at the scene.

Pecor was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree and larceny in the sixth: shoplifting. He was held on $100 bond with a court date set for March 7 in Danbury Superior Court.

Pecor also had three active PRAWN warrants out for his arrest, each for failure to appear in court in the second degree. He was held on an additional $28,000 ($2,000, $10,000 and $16,000) bond for the same court date of March 7.
