Police Blotter: Man Found Sleeping in Bob's Parking Lot, Swerving Leads to DUI

Police found Tony Almeida, 33, who has no official place of residence on file, sleeping in his vehicle in the parking lot of Bob's Furniture on Federal Road around 1:27 a.m. The officers made contact with Almeida and he was arrested on an active warrant for violation of probation out of Bantam Court.

In addition to the probation charge, Almeida was charged with larceny in the sixth degree, improper use of a registration plate and theft of a motor vehicle number plate for a stolen license plate on the vehicle. A small quantity of Xanax tablets were found on his person and in his vehicle with no prescription, leading to a charge of illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Almeida was unable to post the $2,000 bail and was transported to Danbury Superior Court for arraignment.

Police pulled over a grey Honda Civic that was weaving over the fog line on route 7 south around 2:15 a.m.  The driver, Matthew Donnelly, 29, of Danbury, was charged with driving under the infleunce of alcohol or drugs.  

Donnelly was released on $500 bond and is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on February 28.
