Police Blotter: Shoplifting; Underage DUI
Police catch driver spotted in New Milford and arrest alleged shoplifter at Kohl's.

Thursday, June 2
Police received several 9-1-1 phone calls around 11:37 p.m. about an erratic operator. The vehicle was descried as a white Subaru, last seen in the New Milford High School area. A Brookfield police officer observed the vehicle traveling southbound on Federal Road and stopped the driver for failure to stay in the proper lane.
After some investigation, the driver, Jenna Kaplan, 19, of Ridgefield, was arrested for driving under the influence. She was charged with operation of a motor vehicle by a minor having an elevated blood alcohol level and failure to drive in the proper lane of a multi-lane highway. Bond was set at $500 with a court date scheduled for June 3.

Monday, May 30
Jennifer Cruz, 26, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., was stopped by loss prevention after they observed her enter a dressing room with merchandise and leave shortly after. The merchandise was not located in the store. Kohl’s loss prevention stopped Cruz and located stolen merchandise on her person.

Cruz was subsequently arrested by Brookfield police and charged with larceny in the third degree: shoplifting. Bond was set at $15,000 and a court date was scheduled for May 31.
