Police Blotter: Thieves Caught in the Act; Two DUI Charges

Monday, March 14
Around 5:41 a.m., Brookfield Police responded to 70 Pocono Road (McMullin Manufacturing Corp.) for a report of an alarm. When police arrived on the scene, they stopped a grey Chevy Silverado attempting to leave the parking lot. William Palardy, 30, of Bethel, and William Mikowski, Jr., 32, of Danbury, were the occupants of the Silverado and were in possession of a large quantity of aluminum that they took from the property.
Both Palardy and Mikowski were arrested on charges of larceny in the fourth degree. Bond was set for both defendants at $10,000 and they were arraigned in Danbury Superior Court later that same day.

Friday, March 18
Brookfield Police responded to a report of an erratic motorist traveling north on Federal Road around 8:45 p.m. The erratic motorist was called in by a motorist traveling behind.

The erratic driver was witnessed swerving over the double yellow line by police and was stopped on Federal Road. An investigation and field sobriety testing at the scene led to the arrest of the operator, 39-year-old Climaco Arteaga, of Brookfield. Bond was set at $500 with a court appearance scheduled for March 29.
Saturday, March 26
At 10:46 p.m., Bonnie McCauley, 53, of New Milford, was observed traveling northbound on Federal Road at an increased rate of speed, which was measured by radar. A traffic stop was initiated and standardized field sobriety tests were administered.
McCauley was taken into custody and charged with traveling unreasonably fast and operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She was released on $500 bond pending a court date set for April 8 in Danbury Superior Court.
