Police, Fire Depts Douse Bon Fire Saturday

responded along with the (BVFD) to reports of a large bon fire behind 27 Riverford Road Saturday night shortly after 8 p.m.

First responders reported that the fire was large enough to be visible from the road and “near a heavily wooded area.” The fire was extinguished and resident Henry Nusser, 50, was issued a misdemeanor summons for kindling fire in the open without authorization, per the request of Fire Marshal Wayne Gravius.

Nusser is due to appear in Danbury Superior Court on April 6.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Daily Fire Danger Report rated March 24 as “High.”
