Police Searching for Suspect in Midday Parking Lot Robbery

Police are on the lookout for a 20-year-old male accused of breaking into an occupied vehicle in Shop Rite Plaza.

Brookfield police are searching for a 20-year-old white male who allegedly entered a locked car parked in the parking lot, intimidated the woman inside and escaped with her wallet.

Police are reporting that shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, the robber, who was described as a man, approximately 20 years old with scruffy brown hair, entered a vehicle while it was parked in the lot at 143 Federal Road.

According to accounts, the man “reached into the open window and unlocked the door, sat in the passenger seat and demanded the wallet from the lone female operator.”

The woman quickly got out of the car and watched as the man took her wallet and fled into the lot, out of sight. The wallet was recovered a few miles away on the side of the roadway.

Police are currently reviewing videotape surveillance to identify the suspect and the get-away vehicle and cards found still in the wallet are being reviewed for latent fingerprints.
