Portable Classrooms at Huckleberry Hill School Destroyed

The town is reviewing the scope of the renovations to be made.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The decrepit portable classrooms at Huckleberry Hill Elementary School have been torn down. Brookfield had set aside $60,000 in 2016 earmarked for tearing down and replacing the portables, but those funds were only sufficient to demolish the building. In the face of declining enrollments, the portable classrooms are no longer needed.

The town and Board of Education has surveyed residents regarding what type of renovations they hope to see in the school, and has retained an outside firm who will present to the community three to four options for how to improve the school buildings on June 7.
