Portion of Silvermine Road Closed Monday Evening

Shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, a tree branch made contact with a power line on Silvermine Road, near the intersection with Comstock Trail, causing a brief outage and the closure of Silvermine between Comstock and Whisconier Road while crews from Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) replaced the fuse and cleared the wire.

According to Brookfield police, the wire did not come down and the damage was not significant — the road closure was merely a precaution.

Crews were still on scene as of 6 p.m. Monday, however CL&P is reporting full power to the area.
