Reminder: Brookfield First Selectman Debate is Tuesday, Oct. 27

The debate between Brookfield First Selectman candidates Steve Dunn [D] and Bill Tinsley [R] has been rescheduled to Oct. 27.

The debate was originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 15, but Dunn said in a statement that he had to reschedule after a his wife’s cancer returned. The debate will begin at 7 p.m. at Whisconier Middle School ‘s seminar room.

On the debate being cancelled, Steve Dunn released the following statement:

“For the past six years, my wife Cassie has been privately battling an aggressive form of kidney cancer. We thought it had been contained and was in remission. Last Friday, we got troubling news about the cancer’s re-emergence, and we have to go to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to assess our options as a family. The appointment with a specialist has been unavoidably scheduled for the same day that that the debate between Bill Tinsley and me was to occur. Therefore I will not be available to participate in the debate on October 15. I extend an apology to the voters but hope the people of Brookfield will understand. My family is and always will be my top priority.”

The debate is being sponsored by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.
