Rep. Harding and Sen. Chapin: Streetscape Grant Will Rejuvenate Brookfield's Downtown District

BROOKFIELD — The Brookfield Village Project can now officially commence. After previously receiving funding to build new shops and restaurants around the corner from the town’s Four Corners, a new $500,000 grant will now provide for necessary sidewalk, parking and bike lane construction. In approval of this grant are State Sen. Clark Chapin (R-30) and State Rep. Stephen Harding (R-107), who believe the funds will allow the town to take a significant step in implementing the Brookfield Revitalization Plan to create a walkable, bike-friendly downtown hub.

Of the fourteen towns state-wide receiving Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) grants from the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management (OPM), Brookfield is one of the few to receive the maximum amount of $500,000. The project will benefit the community through funding streetscape improvements that will make the revitalizing Brookfield Village accessible and sustainable for all residents.

“This is incredible news for Brookfield,” said Rep. Harding. “I look forward to seeing this project finally materialize and bring new business and cultural opportunities to our town. I thank the OPM for providing Brookfield with much-needed support to complete the vital transportation aspect of our plan.”

“These funds will go a long way towards revitalizing and improving Brookfield Four Corners,” said Senator Chapin. “The current and future residents of Brookfield will be well served by this investment.”
