Retired Guide Dog Named Brookfield's Top Dog

Former service dog voted Brookfield's Top Dog for 2012.

 

Former guide dog for the blind Demi, an eight and a half-year-old German Shephard, was crowned Brookfield's Monday morning, a well deserved honor for a faithful companion.

Demi spent six and a half years as a guide for the blind, raised by Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, based in Bloomfield, CT, before retiring to Brookfield to live with Ruth and Warren Malkin.

She won easily, according to Town Clerk Joan Locke, whose office runs the annual Top Dog contest as part of the state-mandated dog registration required in June. Demi received 10 votes to beat out 91 other submissions, giving the Malkin’s the pick of one of 16 prizes donated from local Brookfield businesses.
