Sen. Blumenthal Will Bring Brookfield Retired Marine to State of the Union Address

Brookfield retired Lt. Col. Michael Zacchea will join Sen. Richard Blumenthal at the State of the Union address.

Brookfield resident Michael Zacchea, retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps, will have the honor of joining Senator Richard Blumenthal at the State of the Union address on Tuesday, Jan. 12, according to The News Times.

Zacchea received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was wounded in the Battle of Fallujah in 2004.

Michael Zacchea was recently elected to serve on the Board of Education for a 4 year term. Brookfield Democrats write on their website:

“Mike is a combat-wounded retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel. He runs two non-profit organizations for veterans and has been inducted into the UCONN School of Business Hall of Fame. Mike has served on several state task forces regarding veterans issues, and is a nationally recognized veterans advocate and subject matter expert on veterans workforce reintegration. Mike is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs for the Small Business Administration, advising the Administrator on policies and issues affecting more than 3.6 million veteran-owned businesses producing more than $1.7 trillion in national gross product and employing more than 8 million employees. He has been recognized as the 2012 Veterans Business Champion by the Small Business Administration, and been inducted into the UConn School of Business Hall of Fame.”
