State Senator Craig Miner Named to Leadership Positions
The 30th State Senate District includes Brookfield.

BROOKFIELD, CT — State Senator Craig Miner (R-30) announced that he was chosen by Senate Republican leader Len Fasano to be the ranking member of the Environment and Labor Committees. Miner will also serve as a co-chair of the Regulation Review Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee.
The Environment Committee has cognizance over environmental regulation and oversight of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Department of Agriculture.
The Labor Committee oversees the Department of Labor, and crafts labor laws for the state. Sen. Miner has served on this committee before.

The Regulations Review Committee has equal bipartisan membership and approves the regulations which come from the state agencies.
The Appropriations Committee formulates the spending portion of the state budget. Sen. Miner has previously served as vice-chair of the committee.

“I want to thank Senator Fasano for entrusting me as the leading Republican voice on important committees,” said Sen. Miner. “We have important work ahead of us, especially with large deficits looming. I look forward to working collaboratively to craft policy and find solutions to the problems facing our state. I will be particularly focused on making sure the rural communities in my district are not treated unfairly in the budget process.”
Along with his committee responsibilities, Miner will serve as Deputy Senate Republican Leader and Screening Chairman. It will be his responsibility to lead the bill screening process for the caucus.
The 2019 Legislative Session begins on January 9.
