Tax Increase Included in Brookfield Board of Finance Proposal: Report

The Brookfield Board of Finance voted to approve its budget proposal for town meeting Wednesday.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Brookfield's Board of Finance voted Wednesday to propose a $64.7 million budget with a tax increase of 1.8 percent, reports the News Times.

The board's proposal remains the same from the proposal it passed last month, including $40.8 million for the schools, $18.6 million for town operations and contingencies and $1.2 million to finance capital projects.

$700,000 has been allotted in the town's contingency fund for the schools in the event that the state legislature passes the governor's proposed budget.

The proposal will now be sent to the town meeting set for May 2.
