The Urban Archeologist: The big game – 1973

Do you remember the big game between Danbury and New Canaan?

I am a big fan of nostalgia. What is nostalgia? There are many definitions, but I interpret it as: A discovery of the thing we kept from a moment in our past. The “thing” can be relived through any of the five senses, each able to conjure a positive memory.

When I see something I recognize while digging through the past I get to enjoy either my own memories, or a kind of faux sense of what this find might evoke in other people. I like making people feel nostalgic.

While cleaning out the garage in preparation for the next winter storm I came across an old find that seemed like it would make a timely post.

The souvenir program from the 8th annual FCIAC East-West championship between Danbury and New Canaan was dated November 17, 1973. The game was held at Boyle Stadium in Stamford and must have been a good match-up.

I really like the graphic illustrations on the cover, but what I was hoping to do by posting it would be to find someone who was either at the game, or in the game. I also want to know the final score.
