Unofficial Voting Results for Brookfield Referendum
BREAKING: Voters hit the polls to determine if the town would borrow funds for the first phase of the Four Corners Streetscape project.

BROOKFIELD, CT — The first phase of the Four Corners Streetscape project is a go after voters approved the borrowing of $1.7 million during a town-wide referendum Tuesday.
According to the Town Clerk's office, the referendum passed by an unofficial tally of 929 in favor to 489 opposed. District 2 overwhelmingly favored the borrowing voting 638 in favor to 290 opposed; but the margin was more slim in District 1 where there were 291 in favor and 199 opposed.
The town will now borrow $1.7 million to round out the funding for the first phase of the project to revitalize the Brookfield Town Center Four Corners District, according to the town. State grants are estimated to cover the remaining 60 percent of the funding, and the News Times reports that will be an estimated $3.5 million.
