What's before the town is a well researched and responsive project. It takes care of facilities we already own but have allowed to deteriorate. It allows for expanded use of the fields while reducing annual operational costs. It is part of the town's capital plan, and will be financed within discussed debt-service limits. (Debt is one tool for municipalities to use, and Brookfield uses debt conservatively as our AA bond rating shows.) The project takes advantage of state funding. It also takes advantage of efficiencies created by doing work in a coordinated way rather than bringing contractors back time and time again.
Tuesday's referendum authorizes spending that will allow us to move forward on much needed and highly visible repairs to facilities that are town assets, but need attention.
I support this effort, and will vote yes for Brookfield on Tuesday. Please join me.
