Warzone: Brookfield (PHOTOS)

BROOKFIELD, CT — It has been nearly two weeks since a killer storm swept through the area, closing roads, businesses and schools and teaching everyone in southwestern Connecticut the meteorological definition of "macroburst."
The recovery is now well under way in Brookfield, among the hardest hit by the weather. The town says that as of Friday, almost every house has power and Eversource has finished their work in restoring electricity. Schools are back in session, although bus routes and drop-off points have been in flux as more and more roads are cleared. Although Brookfield's traditional Memorial Day parade is a casualty of the cleanup, there will still be a ceremony to honor those who have fallen in service to our country at Williams Park on Monday at 12 p.m.
Looking ahead, the town is trying to get disaster relief funding from FEMA, and has reached out to residents for help in providing documentation of the damage.
