Body Identified as Missing Canton Man

The man had been reported missing in early February; his remains were found Sunday along a hiking trail.

CANTON, CT — The human remains found along a hiking trail Sunday have been positively identified as the body of a Canton man who had been reported missing five months ago.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, with assistance from the Canton Police Department, has positively identified the deceased man as 61-year-old Thomas E. Hobbs.

Hobbs had been last seen on Feb. 4 at the Bagel Deli at 220 Albany Turnpike in Canton, police said.

The remains were discovered along the trail in a wooded area near Red Fox Run.

On its Facebook page, the police department stated, "At this time there is nothing suspicious surrounding his disappearance or the circumstances of his death."
