If a chimney fire is suspected, the Canton Fire & EMS department advises calling 911 immediately.

It is important not to use routine lines or fire station numbers, as these phones are not monitored 24/7.

"Officials emphasize that even a short delay can allow a fire to spread into walls and attics, increasing the danger and potential for damage," wrote the fire department.
