Canton Obituary: Daniel Carcio, 63

Condolences to his family and friends.

Daniel John Carcio, 63, of Avon, passed peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday February 18, 2016. He fought a long, courageous battle with cancer since he was diagnosed in 2011.

He was the beloved husband of Lynn Carcio for 27 years and they have been together for 35 years. Their marriage was filled with love, happiness, laughter, compromise, and hard work. Dan built his business in the town of Canton with many of the same qualities he built his marriage and family on. Dan opened the doors of Canton Village Exxon on February 19, 1979. He served the people in the town of Canton and surrounding areas for 37 years at Canton Village Gulf (Exxon for 28 years). He loved his work and being with his customers every day. He retired on December 24, 2015 closing the doors after almost four decades of care, dedication, and service.

Helping others was something Dan did tirelessly without hesitation. If he wasn’t at work, Dan was out on the water in his pride and joy, his boat, Hyper-Active. His summers were spent on the water, speeding over the waves and boating to different places with his wife, children, and close friends that turned into family. He was a die-hard New York Giants fan. Dan was an active member in his church community, he mentored youth and was superintendent of Sunday school for 15 years. Dan built a strong business but even stronger family.

Born on July 7, 1952 to Rosemary Carcio and the late John Carcio. He was a graduate of Wethersfield High School. He loved being with family, friends, and making others laugh. He was always making a joke and loving life. He worked endlessly for his wife, Lynn and three children, Anthony (A.J.), Angela, and Christopher. As his kids were growing up he helped coach A.J.’s baseball teams and supported his Boy Scout troop. He never missed one of Angela’s dance recitals or watching a New York Giants game with her. Dan was at every event for his children up until the day he passed. Dan always said that Lynn was the best thing that happened to him, and he was blessed with a superman of a son and his only and favorite daughter. He loved to vacation and enjoy the time that God granted him.

He is survived by his loving wife; her siblings, Sharon and Doug Ridley, Debra and John Solek, Bruce Davis and Naomi Culp, several nieces and nephews; his three children, Anthony, Angela, and Christopher; grandson, Tyler; his mother, Rosemary Carcio; his siblings, Debra Mals (Carcio), her husband Peter, and daughter Marissa, Robert Carcio and his wife Lisa; Aunt Eleanor Garro; cousins Darren and wife Maria, C.C. and wife Krista; and many second cousins.
