CANTON, CT — ShopRite of Canton recognized two employees Tuesday for their role in raising nearly $9,500 to support local hunger relief efforts, part of a broader regional fundraising campaign.
The store, located at 110 Albany Turnpike (Route 44), honored associates Trish Barrios and Davin Ivy for their contributions to the annual Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest, which benefits food banks and community organizations addressing food insecurity.
As part of the recognition, the store unveiled a limited-edition Cheerios box featuring both employees.

The event also included a $2,500 donation to Healing Meals Community Project, a regional nonprofit located in Weatogue (Simsbury) that prepares and delivers meals to individuals with serious health conditions.
“We are incredibly grateful to ShopRite of Canton and the Partners In Caring program for their generosity,” said Sarah Leathers, founder and CEO of Healing Meals Community Project. “Support like this allows us to continue preparing and delivering nourishing meals to neighbors facing health challenges and reminds us what’s possible when a community comes together to care for one another.”

ShopRite locations across the region participate in the annual fundraising contest during Hunger Action Month in September.
This year, stores collectively raised more than $1.34 million, according to the company.
Top-performing stores earn the opportunity to feature associates on special-edition cereal boxes and receive prize funds to donate to local charities.
At the Canton store, Ivy and Barrios led fundraising efforts through in-store events designed to engage customers and staff.
Ivy organized an “Adopt a Duck” fundraiser, while Barrios hosted a “Manager Pie Toss Challenge,” both aimed at increasing donations and awareness.
