Cheshire Business Cited In Tobacco Sting Operation
Police conducted unannounced compliance inspections where a person under 18 attempted to purchase tobacco products in Cheshire.

CHESHIRE, CT — A Cheshire business was cited for illegally selling tobacco to a minor during a compliance check operation, according to police. The Cheshire Police Department, working in conjunction with the State of Connecticut Prevention Services from the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, conducted compliance inspections on Tuesday, Nov. 27 of several businesses regarding the sale of tobacco products.
A total of 13 compliance checks were conducted with one establishment failing by selling tobacco products to underage agents working for the state, according to police. The establishment is listed below along with the store clerk who received an infraction for sale of tobacco to a minor:
- Cheshire Deli and Fresh Juice (Gulf Gas Station) at 197 Main Street (Nahshal Ayad, 29)
The establishment faces administrative penalties from the state, which could include further fines and retraining of employees, according to police.

Police also noted that the following establishments passed the compliance inspection:
- Citgo Mercury Fuel located at 626 Maple Ave
- Big Y located at 1021 South Main St
- One-Stop Convenience Store located at 914 South Main St
- Rite Aid located at 922 South Main St
- Premier Wine & Spirit located at 1029 South Main St
- Mobile Mart located at 995 South Main St
- Sunshine Convenience Store located at 539 West Main St
- Shell Gas Station located at 901 West Main St
- Gulf Food Mart at 1125 Highland Ave
- Rite Aid located at 180 Main St
- Rt 70 Wine and Spirits at 1320 Waterbury Rd
- Cheshire Spirit House located at 1038 South Main St
