Cheshire Candidate Profile: Looker For Constable

CHESHIRE, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Cheshire and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Cheshire Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Aleta Looker, 81, is running for Constable as a Democrat.

M.A. in geography

Occupation:

Retired as Registrar of Voters at end of 2012. (8 years) Prior to that I was secretary to the President of the Connecticut AFL-CIO for nearly 20 years.

Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office:

Registrar of Voters. I currently serve on the Greater Waterbury Transit District Board of Directors.

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Cheshire needs to either improve or replace some of its school buildings. Being a constable will not directly involve me in this effort, but I can speak to the issue.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I don't believe there is any strong difference in the four of us who are running for constable. It's an honorary position with very few responsibilities.

The best advice ever shared with me was ...

Keep a low profile.
