Cheshire Coronavirus Update: 1st Confirmed Case In Town

The first positive case of the new coronavirus in Cheshire has been confirmed, officials announced.

CHESHIRE, CT — The first positive case of the new coronavirus in Cheshire has been confirmed, officials announced Wednesday. The Chesprocott Health District has notified the town of its first positive case of COVID-19. Two additional potential positives are awaiting confirmation from the Connecticut Department of Public Health, officials said.

“Chesprocott is working with the individual to ensure all appropriate CDC guidance is followed to limit any potential for exposure,” Health Director Maura Esposito said.

Town Manager Sean M. Kimball is reminding residents that, while this first positive is “not surprising, it underscores the critical importance of staying home, social distancing, avoiding contact, practicing good respiratory hygiene, washing your hands, avoiding touching your face, and disinfecting surfaces.”
