Cheshire Dog Park Great Addition to Town

The Cheshire Dog Park, located on Waterbury Road next to Artsplace, is fenced in and ready for use. Although not completely finished (there is talk of park benches, a water line for dogs, giant tubes for dogs to run through and more) having an enclosed space for dogs to interact and run freely, for free, is great for the town. Spread over approximately 4 acres, the dog park has two separate enclosing’s; a smaller one, most likely for smaller dogs, and larger one that seems as if endlessly expands across the field.

Saturday, we brought our dog Emmett, to the dog park to check it out. At first, we entered with trepidation; we were unsure if the park was fully enclosed, but soon we realized there was nothing to worry about. Joined by two other dogs, it was so much fun to see our dog interact and have fun. Plus, he was exhausted for the rest of the day.

My only word of caution; beware of dog. Sunday, when we visited the park, there was a rather territorial dog in the larger section of the park. Being a “dog mom” I brought Emmett into the smaller enclosure and played fetch. Unfortunately, another dog owner didn’t think twice, and when she let her dog off the leash in the large enclosure, it was quickly met by bites and growls from the other dog. Owners, if you know your dog is territorial and not social, please warn others.
