What is your occupation?

CPA, 30 years in financial services

Do you have a family? If so, please tell us about them.

My wife, Carrie, and our two children, Maddie and Devin who attend Norton School.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

n/a

Have you ever held a public office, whether appointive or elective?

Town Council 2003-2010, BOE 2019-date, Energy Commission 2015-2019

Now we'd like to ask a few questions about your reasons for running and your general views on politics and government. First, why are you seeking this office?

I care about Cheshire and our public schools. We're on a good course with school modernization. I want to keep working on that, as well as other important issues, such as open government and good outcomes for the kids.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is \_\_\_, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Positive outcomes for our students. I will continue working with the Board and the Superintendent on a variety of issues, such as modernizing our schools in an environmentally-friendly fashion (with the lowest lifecycle cost), creating alternative pathways (i.e. trades, military, etc.) for CHS grads, and having a great team working for the schools.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Perhaps more so than others, my personal interest is in energy and the environment. I may bring more to the table in that regard than other candidates. Also, I have two children in elementary school. I'm uncertain if any other candidates have that particular connection at the moment.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Leading our vehicle fleet transition away from fossil fuels. The economics don't work yet. But I think there's a reasonable chance that the economics will begin to work in the next four years.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I've been reelected to the Council and elected to the BOE. My biggest accomplishments are probably most related to energy and personnel.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

Get stuff done.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I've been honored to serve the voters of Cheshire for many years. I take that seriously and hope that the voters will continue to trust and support me.
