Student Charges Toward, Grabs Teacher At Manson Youth Institution In Cheshire: Officials (patch.com) — An incarcerated student at Cheshire's Manson Youth Institution briefly grabbed a state school teacher during an Aug. 18 classroom session before the teacher quickly regained control and removed the student. No injuries were reported, and state officials say the incident is under review to confirm procedures were followed and to consider any safety improvements for staff and students.

Motor Bike Operator Charged After Driving On Trail In Cheshire: Police (patch.com) — Cheshire police charged a motor bike operator who rode a street-legal sport bike on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, intercepting the rider directly on the path. Officers say they're responding to growing complaints about motor vehicles and other misconduct on the Linear Trail and are reminding residents that motorized vehicles are prohibited to keep the popular route safe.

3. Public Hearing Set For Capital Budget In Cheshire (patch.com) — Cheshire residents will soon have a chance to weigh in on the town manager's proposed 2026–27 capital budget at a public hearing next Wednesday evening at Town Council Chambers on South Main Street. Following public comments, the Town Council will meet the same night to adopt or reject all or parts of the capital expenditure plan, which details proposed spending on major town projects.

The ranking reflects strong graduation rates, college readiness, and performance on advanced coursework and state assessments compared with thousands of schools nationwide.

Fundraiser by Victoria McKenzie : Supporting the Borelli Family (gofundme.com) — The Cheshire community is being asked to rally around the Borelli family after the sudden death of Andy Borelli, a local police officer deeply involved in Cheshire youth sports. Donations and shares of the fundraiser will help support his wife Mary and sons Joseph and Sammy as they face unexpected expenses and grief.
