Cheshire Native Found Dead in West Haven

A Cheshire native was found dead in the water off the shore in West Haven last week.

On Monday, West Haven Police identified Lisa Marie Sokoloff, 35, as the woman whose body was found in the water off the shore of Leonard Street on Feb. 3.

Sokoloff was most recently a New Britain resident but lived in Cheshire for most of her life.

Sokoloff’s body was recovered after residents observed her in the water, according to West Haven Police.

Police are continuing to investigate, but said at this point they do not suspect foul play and any criminal element associated with her death.

Sokoloff was a former All-State athlete at Cheshire High School and still holds the school’s all-time girls’ basketball record for most career points with nearly 2,000 points, according to the New Haven Register.
