Cheshire Native On Leave Amid Investigation At University Of Michigan

The co-offensive coordinator of the Michigan football team, a Cheshire native, has been placed on leave amid a police investigation.

CHESHIRE, CT — Cheshire native Matt Weiss has been placed on leave from his position as co-offensive coordinator for the University of Michigan football team amid an investigation by the school’s police department, according to the New Haven Register.

ESPN reports the University of Michigan Police Department is investigating a "report of computer access crimes" that occurred at the team's football facility in December.

An employee reported earlier this month “fraudulent activity involving someone accessing university emails accounts without authorization," according to the Detroit Free Press.

Weiss, 39, told ESPN in a statement that he was aware of the ongoing investigation and is “fully cooperating with investigators.”
