Cheshire Pool Director Reprimanded for Endorsement Video

Town Manager Michael Milone praises Sheila Adams despite written reprimand.

While he issued a written reprimand to Cheshire Community Pool Director Sheila Adams over an appearance in a 2012 promotional video for St. Louis-based Arizon Structures, which is overseeing the installation of a permanent roof on Community Pool, Town Manager Michael Milone made it clear that “she has never had any missteps or transgressions,” according to the New Haven Register.

The Register filed a Freedom of Information request and obtained a copy of the letter, which is being placed in Adams’ personnel file.

Milone told Luther Turmelle of the New Haven Register that Adams is “one of the most valuable people working for us.”

Still, Milone issued the written reprimand because the appearance in the video was a “clear endorsement of Arizon as a company and as a service provider, and a clear violation of the Town’s Ordinance relative to a conflict of interest issue and standards of conduct,” according to the Register.

Adams told the Register that she never expected the video to be used for promotional purpose by Arizon and didn’t authorize its use in that manner and contacted the company to have the video taken down once she learned of how it was being used.
